NOTES OF AN EX-CURATOR

A lot has changed for me since my last post on this blog, which in 2016 was called A Curator's Corner. I curated my last exhibition in 2017, a solo exhibition for the photographer Bill Durgin. I have not been writing for any art magazines either.

In the time since then I have been considering what in the art world people like to call their "Next Move" but I have none. The art world has ceded from me in most ways professionally although I do retain an innate interest in art as it is practiced now as well as in the past. I plan to write about art in blogs, on social media, and hopefully in print, when I can find an appropriate vehicle. For now I want to talk less in terms of an art review, a function which in the past has provided me with ample means for self-expression but at the same time, it also serves artists and galleries to whom I would prefer not to collect any indebtedness, either on their part or my own.

What I want to do is talk about art in the abstract, and how and why it continues to move me. If you find this interesting, please follow my blog at Art Thoughts Now (see  link above).

Regards

David Gibson
